Her cat hates tangerines, her owner uses them to create a protective shield for the Christmas tree

Ever since his human owner brought him home, Victor the cat has been an incredibly outgoing four-legged friend: he follows his “mother” wherever she goes and instantly loves every stranger he meets, but despite his confidence, he has a great, and very curious, fear: when he was just a kitten, Victor’s mother discovered that the only thing she hates most are… mandarins! And what’s better than these winter fruits right around Christmas?

“We were together on the couch, I picked up a tangerine and, as I started to peel it, it started hissing and then ran away ,” said Irene Olocco, Victor’s human mother. Irene soon learned that all orange-like fruits were Victor’s weakness and that he would absolutely not go near any of them. Since Victor has always been a bit stubborn, especially when it comes to following the “house rules”, his owner has decided to use this new “kryptonite” to her advantage. “I started putting oranges or mandarins on the furniture where I didn’t want it to go up and it worked ,” Irene revealed.

One of the house rules that Victor has always loved to ignore is “don’t destroy the Christmas tree” ; every year he steals Christmas balls from the tree and destroys various ornaments and other decorations… until Irene had the best idea.

Irene then created a veritable “tangerine force field” around the tree , and we’re pretty sure Victor won’t get past it. As much as he loves tormenting Christmas trees, he hates tangerines even more!

What we learned from the story of Irene and her cat Victor is that if you don’t want your four-legged friends to come near your Christmas decorations… a tangerine is the secret weapon you should show off!
