She Is 93 Years Old And Has Chosen To Spend The Rest Of Her Life Aboard A Luxury Cruise Ship.

What would you do if you had all the free time you always dreamed of and didn’t have to worry about going to work? Some people are lucky enough to be able to devote themselves fully to what they love from an early age; others, on the other hand, are forced to wait for vacation or – at best – retirement. Lee Wachtstetter, also known as Mama Lee, had no doubts after retiring that she decided to put her house up for sale and settle permanently aboard a cruise ship.

Mama Lee lived in Florida. After the loss of her husband, and having finally reached retirement age, she chose to sell her large house and settle permanently aboard a luxury cruise ship, the Crystal Serenity. Despite initial hesitation, she chose to indulge her passion for cruises and follow her daughter’s advice. It was her husband who introduced her to cruises: “Mason was a banker and real estate appraiser and he taught me to love cruises. During our 50 years of marriage, we did 89 cruises. I almost did. 100 more and 15 world cruises “.

She moved there in 2008 and has since visited over 100 countries, from America to Asia. She loves life on a cruise: she loves to dance, relax, have fun with the crew and everyone who works on the ship considers Mama Lee to be their mom or grandmother. The hardest part was having to say goodbye to her family, whom she doesn’t see very often. She keeps in touch with her children and grandchildren through video calls. What about the money? Mama Lee claims to live on the cruise ship costs her around $ 164,000 per year, but it’s money well spent: “The crew do everything to make me happy. Some are almost like family now. If they don’t have what I want, they get it. Even if they have to buy it on the boat or build it for my specific needs. I am so spoiled that I doubt I will be able to adapt to the real world again. ” In short, the woman enjoys her seniority in the way and where she prefers.

And you? How would you like to spend your old age?
