Snoop Dogg spotted doing something ‘he never does’ while watching Olympic gymnastics

Rapper Snoop Dogg joined the likes of Tom Cruise to watch the GOAT this morning

Of course, we’re only interested in the sports when we watch the Olympics. Nothing more.

Let’s face it, it’s also about the thrill, the suspense, and how the audience reacts. And it looks like one guy has really caught everyone’s attention with what he’s doing in Paris.

Snoop Dogg is like a pro in his own world, and this year at the Olympics, he’s there to cover the events for NBC and just enjoy life to the fullest.

After running with the torch at the end of the relay on Friday (26 July), he’s been having fun watching the sports.

Today, he watched Team USA at the Women’s Qualification for the Artistic Gymnastics and did something unusual that he never does.

The rapper known for “Drop It Like It’s Hot” was among the famous faces like Tom Cruise, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande who came to see Simone Biles make her exciting comeback to the Olympics. This was after her famous struggle with the ‘twisties’ that caused her to step back from the Tokyo games in 2021.

Biles is killing it in her new documentary on Netflix! She scored a huge 59.566 at the Olympics, and the BBC commentator called her the best athlete there.

Snoop was really amazed by the gymnast’s performance, just like the huge crowd in Paris!

“You know what I noticed from over here, Snoop Dogg never takes his sunglasses off, but he did to watch Biles’ floor,” said one of the BBC commentators. “Took his glasses off – that’s how impressive it was.”

Another person said that during the 27-year-old’s performance on the floor, the rapper was ‘cheering and moving’ to the music.

Biles started her floor routine by doing a move called the Biles II, which is a triple-twisting double somersault that she created.

The cool D-O-double G was sitting in the front row, cheering for the gymnast and wearing a special T-shirt to show his support even more.

Sharing snaps of Snoop raising his glasses to take in Biles’ routine on X, one user wrote: “When the games are done and over, we need a @SnoopDogg and @Simone_Biles collab on SOMETHING…ANYTHING really and I’d buy it…”

Another added: “I LOVE Olympic games summers. Watching Simone Biles with Snoop Dogg rooting for her on the public, come on.”

While a third agreed: “Snoop Dogg watching Simone Biles compete in gymnastics is the Sunday television I’m here for.”

The most bizarre, discontinued Olympic sports

Painting

In the past, the Olympics used to give out medals for art like painting, sculpture, music, architecture, and literature.

The first appearance of these artistic projects was at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, and they continued until the 1948 London games, with juries giving out a total of 151 medals to the competitors.

Tug of War

Bet you didn’t think this playground classic was once part of the Olympics, did you?

It appears that the sport was not only well-liked, but it also caused a significant amount of controversy – there were allegations of cheating at the 1908 Olympics in London, with Team USA claiming that Team GB used ‘illegal’ heavy footwear.

Tug of War has been a staple in approximately five Olympic games between 1900 and 1920, with fans advocating for its return to the Games.

Hot Air Balloon Racing

At the 1900 Olympics, hot air balloon pilots competed in races to determine who could travel the farthest, reach the highest altitude, land closest to the correct coordinates, and take the best photo from the balloon.

The sport was ultimately discontinued following the implementation of a ban on motorized sports.

Live Pigeon Shooting

Also introduced at the 1900 Olympics, the competition was fairly simple – a group of pigeons were let loose into the air as the athletes attempted to shoot down as many as they could. Quite macabre.

The competition was featured in the Games just once, and overall, it’s believed that athletes aiming for the Olympics eliminated approximately 300 pigeons.

Pistol Duelling

It’s obvious why this event was canceled, but in 1906, people seemed unfazed by competitors brandishing pistols and firing at one another.

The event started with participants aiming at targets, but after two years, the organizers changed it up by having them shoot wax bullets at each other. Ouch!

The sport was last featured in the Olympics in 1908, suggesting they soon recognized it was a poor choice, regardless of the use of wax bullets.
