Olympic gold medallist ‘splits up from his mum’ after row over his girlfriend
Carlos Yulo won two gold medals at the Olympics, but it doesn’t look like any will be going to his mum…
A gymnast participating in this summer’s Olympic Games has ended his relationship with his mother following her unenthusiastic response to his girlfriend.
Carlos Yulo proudly represented the Philippines at the summer Olympic Games in Paris. He won a gold medal in the floor exercise and then snagged another gold in the vault event, both in gymnastics.
The 24-year-old is about to receive some awesome gifts from the Filipino government! First up is a fancy three-bedroom apartment, plus a cash prize of £740,000. And guess what? They’re also getting a lifetime supply of ramen noodles! Honestly, that last one might be the best gift of all!

Even though he’s about to win a big cash prize, he has decided not to share any of it with his mom. This is because he had earlier accused her of not accepting his girlfriend and secretly taking his money.
Yulo is now dating Chloe Anjeleigh San Jose, a model who was also born in the Philippines. However, she lives her life in Australia now, just like he does.
In a TikTok video, the gymnast shared that his mom totally lost it when she learned about their relationship. She unfairly judged Chloe and made assumptions about her without even meeting her first.
The Olympic gold medal winner shared, “My mom made a quick judgment about Chloe based on her clothes and behavior.”
Chloe and I had different childhoods. She was raised in Australia, so that’s the culture she’s familiar with. It’s really different from how we act, speak, and dress here in the Philippines.

Chloe earns her own money. All the things she uses and her trips are the result of her effort. From the start, she wasn’t a fan of Chloe, even though they had never met or seen each other face to face.
The athlete mentioned that things between him and his mom got tougher when he began to establish boundaries. He confessed that he was ‘standing up’ for his role model partner.
He claimed that his mom basically took his prize money from the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2022, and he said he has evidence showing that his winnings were taken out of his accounts.
The Filipino athlete shared, “My mom could see my accounts and the money I get for sports every month.”
He was really surprised when he said, “Once I managed to take charge of my accounts, I discovered that she had withdrawn some money. I have the statements that prove all her withdrawals.”

After Yulo shared how upset he was about his mom’s actions, she replied by saying, “I was the one who received the money…”
As a mom, I was concerned that my kid could face money issues later on, so I decided to invest it in my name.
Yulo’s mom said sorry to him in front of everyone, showing that she really wants to fix things between them and improve their relationship when he comes back from the Olympics.
“I’m really sorry, son,” Mrs. Yulo said. “I know some people might believe I’m only saying this because you’ve done so well. But as your mom, I truly care about you and hope you can forgive me. You’re old enough to make your own choices.”
“No matter how much money you have, our door is always open for you. I can’t change what I’ve said before, but your dad and I are here to talk and listen whenever you feel ready to come back home and work things out,” she finished.
