Michael Jackson’s son Prince explained why his dad always used to cover their faces growing up

Prince, Michael Jackson’s son, shared the reason why his dad often covered their faces when they were kids.

The King of Pop, who died in 2009, had three kids who usually avoid being in the public eye.

He welcomed his first two kids, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., who is 27 and goes by ‘Prince,’ and Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, who is 26, with his second wife, Debbie Rowe, who works as a dermatology nurse.

Whilst his third child, Prince Michael Jackson II, 22, known as ‘Blanket’ and later as ‘Bigi’, was conceived through a surrogate.

The name of Bigi’s mom has never been revealed to the public.

When Jackson was younger, he used to hide his kids’ faces in public. His oldest child explained the reason for this in a 2016 interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Prince said: “My dad spoke to me like an adult.

He explained that the reason for the masks was so we could live our own lives without him.

“I don’t think I ever thought about if other kids lived like that when I was younger.

“But once I knew who he was, I realised it wasn’t normal.

I can still picture the time I was at Disneyland. I walked up to a window, and there were so many fans cheering and snapping photos of me!

“I thought it was normal, so I just waved back.

“You could say my whole life has been unconventional.

“I really love that though, and it’s all I’ve ever known.

I didn’t really understand how much his work mattered to people until I watched a video of him performing, and I saw fans fainting and losing consciousness.

Talking about following in his dad’s footsteps, he joked: “Everyone thinks I’m going to do music and dance.”

But he is the first to admit he cannot do either of the things his dad was renownedly the ‘King’ of.

He added: “Music is a big part of my life.

“It shaped who I am because of my family, but I’ve always wanted to go into production and directing.”

Prince completed his studies at Loyola Marymount University and earned a degree in business administration in 2019.

He helped start the charity Heal Los Angeles, whi

ch works to make life better for young people in Los Angeles.

In 2020, he said he thinks his dad would be ‘very proud’ of all that he’s achieved.

After two years, Prince revealed that he and his girlfriend, Molly Schirmang, had been dating for five years.

They still appear to be together to this day.
