If you see a man with one painted fingernail, here’s what it means

If you encounter a man with a single painted fingernail, this is what it signifies.

During a trip to Cambodia, Elliot Costello and a group of individuals had an interaction with a young girl called Thea.

Elliot was unaware that this meeting would have such a significant effect on him, leading to the initiation of a movement aimed at eradicating child sexual abuse.

Thea always sported nail polish on her small nails. During a conversation with Elliot, she requested to paint one of his nails. He accepted and enjoyed talking to the talkative girl, until he discovered that she had been a survivor of sexual abuse.

Elliot stated that while she was painting one of my nails, he made a promise to always maintain it in that manner as a way to honor her memory and the hardships she endured.

Elliot’s motivation led him to strive for positive change among men in order to reduce the number of children who become victims of sexual abuse.

He conceived the initiative known as #PolishedMan, in which men paint one of their nails with nail polish. This symbolic act is meant to raise awareness for the one in five children who are at risk of experiencing sexual violence.

Polished Man is dedicated to eradicating sexual violence against children. The organization states that “being a Polished Man involves confronting violent behavior and language on both local and global scales.”

Elliot is of the opinion that men, being responsible for 96% of this particular type of violence against children worldwide, should take the lead in driving change if we hope to put an end to the mistreatment of innocent children.

The purpose of the painted nail goes beyond raising awareness about the daily number of abused children. It aims to spark conversations about this harsh reality, encouraging innovative approaches to prevention. Additionally, the goal is to inspire donations towards educational initiatives and support services for child abuse survivors, according to APlus.

We are optimistic that additional male individuals, including public figures, will be open to participating in this initiative.
