Hungry Student Eats Banana On Display In Museum,’i Didn’t Want It To Rot’
Over time, art has undergone many changes. The task of artists is to represent and describe society, but whereas this was previously done by making every detail appear, contemporary art has moved towards more conceptual art, linked to impressions, which almost tries to hide the underlying idea.
One of the artistic representations that has caused the most noise is the work of Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan: The Comedian , a banana taped to the wall with adhesive tape.
Unfortunately, during the exhibit, a student decided to take down the banana, eat it, and hang the peel on the wall . Let’s see in detail what happened
Le Comédien, a famous installation by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, caused a sensation with its audacity. Indeed, it is nothing more than a banana attached to the wall with adhesive tape. Although it is considered a very simple work, it has a value of around 120,000 dollars (about 110,000 euros) . Too bad a student decided to eat it!
During a visit to the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, a South Korean student, Noh Huyn-soo, was filmed removing the banana from the wall. After peeling it, he ate it and then hung the skin on the wall. The video was later posted by the boy on his social media, believing that his performance was also a work of art .
The student explained to the museum that he ate the banana because he was hungry and didn’t want it to rot. It all happened in a matter of moments, so much so that museum staff were taken aback and unable to intervene. The incident was immediately reported to Cattelan, who does not seem to have reacted.
What do you think of this gesture?
